We are going to talk about a new diet guaranteed to help you lose 10 to 20 lbs in the first month! You will then put the weight back on, plus some. I call this the TMI (too much information) diet, because most of you consume too much useless information that distracts you from what matters! My studies show the average person has:

  • Read approximately 103 diet books
  • Followed 97.5 diets
  • Lost 15lbs, 25 times. The same 15lbs (some of it muscle)!

My studies are about as accurate as the studies they base these diet books off of. Correlation and Causation are not the same thing! Did you know there is a strong correlation between ice cream sales and violent crimes increasing at the same time? We know ice cream does not cause crime (maybe wine:) but we use this same thinking when someone spits out “diet facts”..

Diets don’t work, and never will. Focus on habits, and address your attitude towards food. Stop taking short cuts and get focused on what matters. Here are a few things to focus on:

  • Calories in vs. Calories out
  • Getting adequate protein
  • Not going to extremes with carbs or fat
  • Making sure 80 to 90% of what you eat is high quality, non processed, and full of nutrients.
  • Answering the question “Can I do this for the rest of my life?” before making a change. A gradual change that will turn into a habit, and not just being on a diet for 4 to 8 weeks.

I will go into more detail on the above in another article, but they all relate to each other. I see people whose main goal is fat loss – worried about things like insulin, eating after 6pm, meal frequency, carbs, etc.; when they are just taking in too many calories. You will not lose fat without following rule Number One. You will not stay on your plan without rule Number 2 and 3, because you will be hungry and lack variety in your diet. If you don’t follow rule Number 4, then you risk health issues. Your body will tell you to keep eating, because no matter how much you eat it still requires those nutrients you are not giving it.

Create a slight deficit in calories over time = reach fat loss goals and maintain that weight. You have read all these diet books, but remember your body is much smarter than you. Go on a crash diet with extremely low calories and your metabolism drops in order to not wither away.

Like most things in life it’s very simple. Hard, but simple.
