☑️Benefits of Walking

Why Everyone Need to do Walking Workouts

Many people discount walking as a means of exercise, but there are countless benefits to adding walking to your routine. If you are looking for a way to exercise that doesn’t require a gym membership or any fancy equipment, all you need to do is get outside and take a walk.

Whether you’re just getting started on a healthy routine or just need an extra push in the right direction, start by just committing to going for daily walks. Wondering what walking can do for you? Keep reading to learn more about all the benefits of walking.

A Quick Workout

Studies show that you can see great results in your health and fitness with just 30 minutes of walking every day. If you don’t have hours to devote to gym workouts or fancy exercise programs, just a quick half-hour walk is a great start to help you get in shape. Of course you need to be doing strength training, but walking is the perfect complement to every routine.

Low-intensity exercise

If you want to start working out but you can’t do high-intensity workouts like running or HIIT training, walking is a great option to get your body moving. Walking is still considered a weight-bearing exercise because you are moving against the weight of your body, so you get a great workout in without overexerting yourself.

A common mistake is the hardcore person who discounts walking as not enough. Or the runner, who is always injured, who fails to see the benefit of walking. Walking will help this crowd speed up recovery between sessions.

Improve cardiovascular health

Walking is a form of cardio, so it will help your heart and lung function.

These major systems control so much of your overall health. When your body is working optimally, you will be at a much lower risk of chronic health issues like heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, and more.

Fat loss

Although walking may not burn as many calories as a group class, you will still burn calories that will aid in fat loss. Burning calories while walking can help you stay in a caloric deficit and lose stubborn fat.

You can walk briskly to get your heart rate up and increase your calorie burn or consider incline walking for more of a challenge. If you are walking outside, choose a hilly route to make your walk more challenging as well.

Keep joints healthy

A body in motion stays in motion. If you make walking part of your daily routine, your joints will thank you. Moving your body means that your entire musculoskeletal system is working together to keep your body healthy. As your muscles strengthen from walking, it helps you lubricate and strengthen your joints as well which makes you less prone to injury over time.

Boost your mood

An unexpected benefit of adding walking to your routine on a regular basis is that it will drastically improve your mood. Moving your body in an intentional way, especially when you can do it outside, will do wonders for your overall .

Exerting yourself, breathing in the fresh air, and exploring your surroundings are proven to help you think more positively and feel more relaxed. Take the time during your walk to listen to your favorite music, tune into a podcast, or call a friend for an added happiness boost!
