Celebrity Fitness Advice ?

You’re grocery shopping and as you’re walking past the magazine rack you see Tom Brady’s ripping torso on the front cover of a magazine.  It’s advertising his new workout program to kick you into spring shape.

Great you say. That’s exactly what I need. Except you’re not Tom Brady, you don’t have unlimited time and you don’t have a chef on speed dial

Sure, I’ll give it a shot anyway. .

And it works for a few weeks until you must meet a huge deadline at work, and you skip a workout. The one skipped workout turns into two and you say screw it and slip into the bad habits that got you into trouble in the first place.

Sounds familiar?

That’s the thing about these celebrity endorsed workout plans. They might work for someone with unlimited time, no injuries, no stress, or tons or resources. But that’s fantasyland for you and me.

Most of the people I work with are busy professionals who want to make fitness fit into their hectic lifestyle. They have lots of stress and may lack basic training experience.

Or it’s been a long time since they were active. What really is needed is to build an exercise foundation in the basic movements pattern like the squats, hinges, pushes, pulls and carries. But the magazines will not tell you that.

Celebrity endorsed fitness plans look great on paper, but they fail people in a few ways….

They require too much time (and equipment) to work— yeah, best case scenario might block out an hour a day for some crazy workout. But for people who haven’t not done anything for a year or two don’t need that, right off the bat.

And my main problem with them is they have no progression or regression in place. Most of us haven’t got this level of fitness or know how. And when you can’t do a particular exercise, then what?

Anyway, stop copying the program of a pro athlete or model who has been consistently working out for the past 20 years.  They took many years to get to this level.

Fit fitness to your schedule, and your workout where you’re at, and not where you wish to be.  And if you need a helping hand, you know where to find me.

More Fitness Myths

Working out in the “fat – burning zone” does not speed up fat loss.

Muscle does not turn to fat when you stop working out

Women do not get bulky from lifting weights. I think I said that a million times, but some people still believe it.

Our top article of the week talks about these myths, and a few others. Check it out => Fitness Myths

It can be fun, flexible, and affordable:

We work with busy professionals who want to be healthy and get in shape. We don’t work with bodybuilders who are trying to compete on stage. That’s why we have workouts that include strength, mobility, cardio, balance, and flexibility all in a 45 minute period.

It’s not your traditional boring treadmill and machine workout. Our program is much easier to maintain and not painful on the joints.

We also teach you what to do when you’re working out alone on off days, or without assistance. And unlike most gyms, we structure our billing so you only pay for what you get. You don’t pay for the days you aren’t here.

We offer payment options by the session, month to month, or punch passes to give busy people like you an easy and stress-free way to get started.
