“But I used to be able to …..” 

When someone says this, they are living in the past. Results do not come from living in the past. You get results from being present and facing reality. Your body changes over time. Your life and responsibilities change over time. 

The reality is your joints will have more wear and tear at 40, 50, 60, 70+ than at 20. Most people will have some form of  injury they have to deal with. Life gets more complicated as you age. If you train smart, you can still make progress. You can still function in day to day life. 

A few tips….

Warm up!

You can not skip the warm up anymore! You were able to get away with it years back, but not anymore! 

Always start your session with a dynamic warm up to prepare your body and joints. You need more than 5 minutes on a treadmill and a few static stretches. Improving mobility and soft tissue work is important as you age. 

More time on mobility and flexibility! 

You NEED to spend more time on mobility, flexibility, and soft tissue work! If you skip this you stand no shot of aging gracefully. Skip it and your exercise pool will drastically decrease. 

We help you turn this into a habit by giving you a routine that fits into your day to day life. This does not have to be a long routine to get the benefits. 

Joint friendly strength training exercises 

You need smart strength training. The same routine you were doing with the barbell 20 years ago is probably the last thing you need now. The hardcore boot camp workout with 40 people in a room is not going to work anymore. 

Low impact cardio 

Cardio is more than going for a run! Most of you only have so many running miles in your body before it starts to break down. Others have a body type that is built for running, most do not. 

Most of you need to remove all the jumps and do low impact variations. You can still train power movements without jumping. 

You can still train hard! 

I am not telling you it’s time to walk on a treadmill and limit yourself to a few machine exercises. That is the last thing you need. It’s better than nothing. But it’s not the best thing when it comes to getting results. 

You need functional strength and mobility training. You can still get after it if you choose the best exercises for your body type! We create plans that prepare you for day to day life. Teach you how to do daily tasks. Prepare you for living!
