Prevent the Injury! – Before we go into training with an injury, we can focus on the obvious. Do what you can to prevent getting injured in the first place! 

Focus on a proper warm-up, make sure your technique is good, and don’t try to progress too fast! We always start with a dynamic warm-up to prepare your body for the session. Investing in a personal trainer, even if it’s just for 2-3 sessions, is always a great idea. We can make sure you have great technique and design a program specific to your needs. 

See a Doctor-  I do not know any doctors with the name GOOGLE! Go get a professional instead of  trying to diagnose yourself! It’s better to be safe than sorry. 

The mental side of an Injury- Injuries will put you in a bad mood. Negative thinking and emotions lead to MORE negative thoughts and emotions. Do not sit around and feel bad for yourself. This is another area where a trainer can help. Surrounding yourself with positive people is always a good thing when it comes to your mental health. 

Focus on what you can do!!! If you have a lower body injury, you can still do upper body work. If you have an upper body injury, you can still do lower body work. There are a million ways we can keep you going. 

Maybe you can use this time to focus more on flexibility or mobility training. There are a million things you can still do! Moving around will speed up the recovery for just about every injury. 

Get an assessment from a Personal Trainer – If it’s a serious injury, go back to step two above. See a doctor! 

The first thing we do with every single client is have some form of an assessment. At the no charge consultation we discuss injury and medical history. We then walk you through what happens in the 3 different services. We even have some physical therapist that work with us to help you transition back to an exercise routine. 

We have modifications for every exercise in our groups, but it’s probably a good fit to invest in a personal or semi private session to get even more attention. We will take you through a movement assessment to see what causes pain and then give you modifications. 

Sleep and Nutrition– These 2 things are a very big deal. This is blog post, not a book. So hit reply if you have any specific questions. 

Staying active while injured! –  If your doctor has given you the okay, then stay active! Pain-free movement will speed up the recovery process. Light movement will improve blood flow and speed up the recovery process. 

Stay away from “fighting through the pain” and doing things that hurt. That is NOT smart!
