Getting older ? I sure hope so! That’s a good problem.

I recently turned 43. I think 43, with over two decades of experience, puts me in a good position to relate to a wide variety of clients.

I started thinking about how my training has changed over the past few decades. How my goals have changed over the past few decades. Things are different for sure!

My current goals? – Have good blood work, not get injured, be able to play golf, and be independent as I age. Hope you were not expecting something more exciting:)

It’s about being healthy and independent. My goals in my twenties were different. My goals ten to twenty years might be different.

Is my training different?-  Yes! Things are always changing.

I have to do a lot more flexibility and mobility training. I have to make sure I am doing more foam rolling and soft tissue work.

I no longer do barbell training .  Way too hard on my joints. I can do barbell exercises with a landmine trainer. This makes things a lot easier on the joints! Some specialty bars like hex bars also make things much easier. Plenty of great exercises with bodyweight, dumbbells, landmine,  bands, TRX, and other pieces of equipment.

I know long distance running is not a good fit for me. Might work out great for others. But that pounding on the joints is not for me. I choose low impact and/or higher intensity shorter duration cardio work.
